His apparent point of reference was Matthew 10:29 ("are not two sparrows sold for a penny?") in tandem with Luke 12:6. ("Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies?") Apparently he did the math: while there is greater value in buying five for the price of four, it means that one of those five is literally valueless.In his journal, he goes on to quote the remainder of the verse from Luke: "And not one of them is forgotten before God." What a joy it is to know that while our lives, possessions, and families might be viewed to be even worthless in the eyes of the world, we are reminded both by the scriptures but also by one another that we have the eye of God Himself on us, and we are never forgotten by Him. Jessica and I were reminded of this in a profound way while so many people came out to help us move, provided food, and looked out for us throughout this season of transition. From the bottom of our hearts we say both "thank you!" and also "praise God that He remembers us!"I look forward with great excitement to worshipping with you all this weekend.
